Different Generations. One Partnership

June 8, 2026

Many organizations today bring together people from very different generations. While this diversity creates opportunities, it can also create misunderstandings.

A recent discussion between representatives of Baby Boomers and Gen Z in Indonesia highlighted an important lesson:

  • Generational differences are not barriers to partnership. They are potential strengths.
  • Baby Boomers often contribute experience, long-term thinking, and risk awareness. Gen Z contributes innovation, digital fluency, and speed.
  • The challenge is not choosing one over the other. It is creating an environment where both can contribute effectively.

This is where partnership brokers play an important role.

They help translate perspectives, build trust, manage power dynamics, create psychological safety, and align diverse stakeholders around shared goals.

One insight stood out to me:

“The role of partnership brokers is not to get rid of differences, but to make the most of them.”

In a world that is becoming increasingly complex, the ability to bridge generations may become one of the most important leadership skills of all.
